During these difficult times after 9/11, corporations\’ unethical practices, businesses\’ financial difficulties, mergers, and the dreaded layoffs that followed, hopefully, the road to recovery is just ahead. The national and international impact has been overwhelming to not only many businesses but to our communities. RayAnn Enterprise Publishers was established to have an impact by providing information to the community interested in Information Technology (IT), IT professionals, IT businesses and other industries developing and implementing information technology systems and projects. Long before 9/11, a high rate of project failures and the need to fill the many expected IT jobs with qualified individuals was a concern. The incidents after 9/11 just made things worst.
While businesses are still announcing layoffs throughout a variety of industries, it is still reported that between 600,000 to a million IT jobs will be created but about half or many could go unfilled. Not enough skilled and qualified individuals. The problem with some individuals not being qualified is a concern that has to be addressed. How do we educate and train individuals in time to meet the requirements for recovery? Technology affects and impacts every company/business, on a national and international (global) level.
At one time, many companies outsourced IT expertise because the expertise was not in-house. To reduce costs, companies are developing in-house expertise to meet the need. But many still have to outsource for IT projects and resource engagements to introduce technology in their companies. The fast pace changes in technology (e-technology) and the introduction of the internet and its sub elements: Intranet, Extranet, and the World Wide Web, has created business and business opportunities.

This explosion of growth, more then ever, is why we must address the problem and reverse the trend throughout the IT and other industries having a high rate of failed projects by using proven processes such as configuration management as indicated in the book by the author promoting successful management control and quality for projects: Software and Firmware Configuration Management. The \”Missing Link\” in many failed projects. Let\’s not repeat the same mistakes again and again.
