Do Project and Program Managers have different responsibilities?

Understand there is a difference between a Program Manager and Project Manager (and a project(s) is a part of a program). The “Tip” is not to let someone tell you there is not a difference (Maybe you can’t stop them from telling you but don’t believe there is not a difference.) There is a career path . It’s disturbing to me to hear from managers, colleagues, and other IT professionals indicating that some companies have not addressed or presented an understanding of program management (or what are the typical program manager’s responsibilities and required skill sets). Some companies have used the Program and Project Manager titles interchangeably, but there is a difference. (presented in the Information Source: Program and Project Management. Is There a Difference?…)

Understand there is a difference, because there is a career path from a project manager (project management) to program manager (program management). Those individuals, like myself, who have taken that career path, know that the responsibilities and challenges increased. And I hope that individuals who travel that path enjoy it as much as I have.

Good Luck.
